There is actually no such thing as a completely lazy day here at SMDEP, but I'm feeling a bit tired. I woke up at 6:30 (about a one hour improvement from the normal weekdays) to catch breakfast before heading off to our first day event: Basic life support training. After spending about four hours learning about CPR for adults, children, and infants, SMDEPers took an exam in order to become CPR certified. I passed--and got my CPR certification!!! I liked how we learned about the latest CPR techniques, since the American Heart Association updated them from what we learned in secondary school. Pictures below :)
Afterward, there were several activities for students to do. I decided to stay and read through the MCAT book. I don't know much about the test format, and I've been hungrily devouring the information!
The rest of the day has been pretty quiet, although we are definitely starting to get more going on in the program. Next week will be filled with lots of biostats/epidiomology. Tomorrow, we have student advisory board elections. I am not running for any positions, although I'll definitely be voting! I hope you like the pics:
